GigaDevice introduces the GD32F403 series of high-performance basic Cortex-M4 MCUS

Industry-leading semiconductor supplier GigaDevice has introduced the new GD32F403 series of high-performance basic microcontrollers based on the 168MHz Cortex-M4 core, providing a cost-effective entry point for advanced computing needs with balanced system resources and peripherals. As the newest member of the GD32 microcontroller family, the GD32F403 family is available in 20 product models, including four package types: LQFP144, LQFP100, LQFP64 and BGA100.

     Based on the 168MHz Cortex-M4 core and supporting fast DSP and floating-point operations, GigaDevice GD32F403 Series general purpose MCUS continue to provide industry-leading processing efficiency and balanced interface resource allocation to provide a cost-effective entry point for high-performance computing needs such as industrial manufacturing, smart hardware and the Internet of Things.

     GigaDevice, the industry's leading semiconductor supplier, recently introduced the new GD32F403 series of high-performance basic microcontrollers based on the 168MHz Cortex-M4 core, providing a cost-effective entry point for advanced computing needs with balanced system resources and peripheral configurations. As the newest member of the GD32 microcontroller family, the GD32F403 family is available in 20 product models, including four package types: LQFP144, LQFP100, LQFP64 and BGA100. Thus, it is easy to meet the challenges of rapidly evolving intelligent applications with excellent design flexibility and compatibility.

     The GD32F403 series adopts a new process design, the processor can be up to 168MHz, integrated with a complete DSP instruction set, parallel computing capabilities and a dedicated floating point computing unit (FPU). It is equipped with 256KB to 3072KB Flash capacity and 64KB to 128KB SRAM. Core access flash high-speed zero wait, up to 210DMIPS performance at the highest frequency, CoreMark® test up to 565 points. The code execution efficiency of Cortex-M4 products in the market is 10% to 20% higher than that of similar Cortex-M4 products in the main frequency, and has comprehensively surpassed the Cortex-M3 products with a performance improvement of more than 40%.

     The GD32F403 series chips are equipped with two 16-bit advanced timers that support a three-phase PWM complementary output and a Hall acquisition interface for vector control, as well as up to eight 16-bit universal timers, two 16-bit basic timers and two multi-channel DMA controllers. Considering advanced application requirements, a variety of peripheral resources are balanced and practically integrated. Including up to 3 USART, 2 UART, 3 SPI, 2 I2C, 2 I2S, 2 CAN2.0B and 1 SDIO, built-in 1 USB 2.0 OTG FS interface can provide Device, HOST, OTG and other transmission modes. And has a separate 48MHz oscillator to support Crystal-less design. The chip is equipped with three 12-bit high-speed ADCs with sampling rates up to 2.6MSPS, provides up to 21 reusable channels, adds 16-bit hardware oversampling filtering and resolution configurable capabilities, and has two 12-bit DCS. Up to 80% of GPIOs have multiple optional features and support for port remapping, providing excellent flexibility and ease of use for a wide range of applications.

     The chip uses 2.6V-3.6V power supply, and the I/O port can withstand 5V level. The newly designed voltage domain supports advanced power management and offers three power saving modes. Maximum operating current is only 380µA/MHz in full speed mode for all peripherals, and standby current is less than 1µA on battery power, achieving the best energy consumption ratio while ensuring high performance. It also has 6KV electrostatic protection (ESD) and excellent electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) capabilities, all in line with industrial high reliability and temperature standards.

     GigaDevice is also equipped with a full and rich firmware library for the new product family, and the GD32 development ecosystem, including multiple development boards and applications, is ready to go. The new development tools include GD32403Z-EVAL, GD32403V-START and GD32403R-START learning kits for three different packages and pins for easy development and debugging. GD-Link, a debugging and mass production tool that supports online simulation, online burning and offline burning, is also provided. Thanks to the extensive ARM ecosystem, more development software including Keil MDK, CrossWorks, and third-party burning tools are also fully supported. These greatly simplify the difficulty of project development and effectively accelerate the product to market cycle.
