Energy Micro launches Starter Kit based on Giant Gecko and Leopard Gecko MCUS
Energy Micro announced the launch of two new feature-rich starter kits to help designers develop more complex battery-powered products, such as portable medical and fitness devices and smart accessories. The two development kits are based on their existing Giant Gecko and Leopard Gecko microcontrollers, with on-board debugging and current probe capabilities, as well as all the features needed to prove the sleep mode of the Gecko MCU 400 nA and the built-in 1M Flash.
These two starter kits support the largest memory microcontrollers in the EFM32 Gecko family of 240. In addition to including full SEGGER J-Link support, another feature of the new starter kit is the inclusion for the first time of an enhanced Energy Micro real-time current probe, the energyAware Profiler performance analysis tool. This advanced AEM energy monitoring system ensures that current data is viewed with greater accuracy and up to 100 times faster than earlier versions, eliminating the need to connect external devices to find out current consumption.
EFM32-GGSTK3700 Starter Kit is based on Energy Micro's EFM32GG990F1024 MCU - the only low-power MCU in the industry with 1MB on-chip Flash and 128KB RAM memory. The other starter kit, the EFM32LG-STK3600, is based on the EFM32LG990F256 MCU with 256KB Flash. A wide range of memory options allows designers to implement complex embedded designs while keeping power consumption to a minimum. Both the Leopard Gecko and Giant Gecko family of MCUS have direct control of the TFT display and are equipped with USB drivers that support the host, device, and On-the-Go (OTG) protocol.
In addition, the two new EFM32 Leopard Gecko and Giant Gecko Starter kits also come with light, metal and touch sensors, These sensors allow designers to investigate the Energy Micro Gecko MCU's unique LESENSE low-power sensing interface - which autonomously monitors up to 16 external analog sensors without CPU intervention. Hardware features include a USB plug, 32MB onboard NAND flash memory, LCD, various indicators and buttons.
All of Energy Micro's development tools are powered by its Simplicity Studio- the "Easy Studio". Simplicity Studio is a free EFM32 development software suite that provides all the latest documentation, code samples, and drivers needed for any Gecko design
