Diodes' new high voltage rectifier family includes the S1MSWFQ standard rectifier and the RS1MSWFQ Fast rectifier, both AEC-Q101-compliant devices designed to provide robust rectifier, blocking and reverse battery protection for automotive electronic control units.

     Diodes' new high-voltage rectifier family includes the S1MSWFQ standard rectifier and the RS1MSWFQ Fast rectifier, both AEC-Q101-compliant devices designed to provide robust rectification, blocking and reverse battery protection for automotive electronic control units. The compact and highly heat-dissipating SOD123F package ensures that the S1MSWFQ standard rectifier and the RS1MSWFQ fast rectifier provide superior performance while requiring less than half the printed circuit board footprint of the same type of SMA package rectifier.

     The SOD123F package has a maximum plate thickness of 1.15mm, less than half of the SMA package. Its 7mm2 board footprint is only 43% of the area required for the same type of SMA packaged device. In addition to saving space for circuit designers, the SOD123F package provides superior thermal performance with a node-to-housing thermal resistance of 13°C/W, while the SMA package is rated up to 30°C/W and uses recommended pad wiring.

     Both rectifiers have a minimum reverse breakdown voltage of 1000V, providing a large voltage headroom for automotive system designs. This allows for voltage spikes due to coil inductance recoil and inductors, and also means that these devices can withstand the electromagnetic interference specified in the ISO7637 standard when used to protect electronic control unit reverse batteries. The performance characteristics of both the S1MSWFQ and RS1MSWFQ rectifiers contribute to robust and reliable operation to meet the stringent requirements of the automotive industry. These devices are more compliant with the AEC-Q101 standard and are equipped with the Production Part Approval Procedure (PPAP) for the automotive industry.
