Companies collaborate to optimize the security of next-generation microcontrollers
As the automotive industry transitions to software-defined vehicles and new E/E architectures, the demand for high-performance hardware and robust cybersecurity solutions is also increasing. To meet this requirement, Infineon Technologies AG has integrated the ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3. Partnered with ETAS to integrate the automotive security software stack into the AURIX TC4X Cybersecurity Real-time Module (CSRM). With this next-generation solution package, these companies seek to optimize security levels, performance, and functionality.

The AURIX TC4x series is compliant with the latest ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity standard. The security concept eliminates performance bottlenecks and supports post-quantum encryption. The controller family includes a CSRM with dedicated memory and a Network security satellite (CSS). CSS provides an accelerator for crypto services that can execute in parallel and, together with ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x, significantly improves throughput.
Virtualization support also helps to configure multiple virtual instances so that multiple applications can run in parallel. ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3. X uses this feature to allow flexible startup sequence and independent dynamic updates for each virtual instance. Access control can be fine-grained configured, and a separate ASIL level can be assigned to each virtual instance, facilitating different security applications.
The first device in the new Infineon TC4X family is protected with ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x. The hardware compatibility of CSRM and CSS allows for a smooth port of ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3. Convert the TC4X to other derivatives of the TC4X family based on market demand and equipment availability.
