Cirrus Logic introduces dual-channel power amplifiers to help triple the speed performance of semiconductor and flat-panel display test equipment

Cirrus Logic has expanded its Apex Precision Power amplifier portfolio with the introduction of a new dual-channel booster amplifier product, the PB63. With a swing rate of 1,000 V/µs and a power bandwidth of 1 MHz, the PB63 can triple the performance of power amplifiers compared to the company's previous power amplifier products that represent the industry benchmark.

     Cirrus Logic has expanded its Apex Precision Power amplifier portfolio with the introduction of a new dual-channel booster amplifier product, the PB63. With a swing rate of 1,000 V/µs and a power bandwidth of 1 MHz, the PB63 can triple the performance of power amplifiers compared to the company's previous power amplifier products that represent the industry benchmark. By combining the highly cost-effective "two-channel amplifier" PB63 with one or two low-cost op-amps, semiconductor and flat-panel test equipment manufacturers can achieve both superior test equipment efficiency and productivity, and the solution is more cost-effective than traditional high-voltage amplifiers.

     With a voltage range of ±20 V to ±75 V and a continuous output current of up to 2A, the PB63 is designed to provide voltage and current gain when used with a small signal general-purpose op-amp. The solution allows users to optimize the accuracy, bias, input noise, and setup time of the composite circuit.

     Greg Brennan, vice president and general manager of Cirrus Logic's Apex Precision Power Business unit, said: "With the PB63 booster amplifier, Cirrus Logic can deliver the high voltage performance and faster speeds our customers need without relying on more expensive amplifier products to get the job done. The PB63 can be combined with existing op amPs for a flexible and economical solution that helps Oems tailor performance to their applications."

     The PB63 dual-channel amplifier provides added value for high-density board designs such as graphic generators for flat panel display inspection systems, deflection circuits for semiconductor inspection systems, scientific scanning electron microscopes, piezoelectric drives for the heads of industrial inkjet printers, and programmable power supplies for semiconductor automated test equipment.
