Broadcom launches DOCSIS 3.0 cable TV set-top box platform for the Chinese market
Broadcom announced the launch of a new cost-effective, compact DOCSIS® 3.0 set-top box (STB) for the growing Chinese cable TV market. The new product offers more advanced features to Chinese cable TV subscribers, including Over-the-top (OTT) video content, broadband data services, and wired and wireless home networks. Broadcom's new cable set-top box design incorporates DOCSIS 3.0 features, AVS+ decoding support for high-definition (HD) content, and TVOS compatibility. These new features can meet the growing demand for bandwidth transmission in China's C-DOCSIS network for new user applications and wireline services, and help operators provide easy-to-install equipment for home users. At the China International Radio and Television Information Network (CCBN) exhibition this week, Broadcom will showcase its latest DOCSIS 3.0 cable TV set-top box platform.
Rich Nelson, senior vice President of marketing for Broadcom's broadband and Wireless Connectivity division, said: "Broadcom's compact cable set-top box design reduces system cost and system complexity, thereby reducing development and deployment costs for cable operators in China, and providing value-added services to home users. "By integrating DOCSIS 3.0, our new device enables advanced IP-based home networking, enabling consumers to access better voice, data and video services across multiple devices in the home, while improving security."
The ultra-compact DOCSIS 3.0 cable TV set-top box (STB) platform combines Broadcom BCM7250 set-top box System-on-a-chip (STB SoC), Mobile HD Link (MHL), Mobile HD Link (MHL), and mobile HD Link (MHL). Mobile High Definition Link 2.0 and DOCSIS 3.0 cable TV modulation Coordinator system-on-chip (SoC) BCM3383 are perfectly integrated into one.
