Broadcom introduces breakthrough low-power combination chips for mobile platforms and accessories

     Broadcom announced the launch of its latest, lowest-power Wi-Fi/ Bluetooth combo chip for mobile platforms and accessories. The BCM43012 extends battery life by up to three times compared to previous Broadcom combos, enabling original equipment manufacturers (Oems) to design a new generation of high-performance connected devices.      With the BCM43012, Oems can integrate Wi-Fi onto platforms that were previously limited by Bluetooth solutions due to battery size or power budgets. In some applications, the BCM43012 Wi-Fi consumes 80% less power than the most common Bluetooth solutions today. The significant reduction in Wi-Fi power consumption helps Oems take full advantage of the improved Wi-Fi throughput and Wi-Fi coverage to enable new applications across a wide range of devices. With integrated Wi-Fi, device accessories can also connect directly to the cloud without a smartphone as an intermediary.
