Bourns has announced the addition of 12 new CSM2F series power shunt resistors, extending its product portfolio. The new series uses riveted through-hole metal sensing pins to meet the growing demand for accurate positioning of voltage test points in high-current applications

Bourns has announced the addition of 12 new CSM2F series power shunt resistors, extending its product portfolio. The new series uses riveted through-hole metal sensing pins to meet the growing demand for accurate positioning of voltage test points in high-current applications. The latest Bourns CSM2F series of shunt resistor products are designed with Bourns electron beam welding resistor technology to support high power designs up to 50 watts and continuous currents up to 1414 amps. In addition, the new series is made with metal alloy resistance components that provide thermoelectric EMF as low as 0.25µV /K.

 

The Bourns CSM2F series offers two or three tinned copper pin options, where the three-pin scheme provides a third additional induction pin in addition to the two pins, connected to the grounding side of the circuit (GND). The three-pin design helps reduce sensing errors and improve measurement accuracy by directing the current at ground (GND) to a path separate from the target detection circuit.

 

The Bourns CSM2F shunt resistor family also features a wide resistance range of 25 µΩ to 200 µΩ and a low ±50 PPM/°C TCR in the temperature range of 20 °C to 60 °C. The new range is available in three different finishes, as well as four package sizes: 6918, 8518, 7036 and 8536 (metric), providing designers with additional flexibility to meet a variety of customer environments and welding needs.
