Ams launches spectrally tuned iot Smart Lighting Manager

     Ams AG, a leading global supplier of high-performance sensors and analog ics, has announced the introduction of the industry's first integrated, adjustable white light intelligent lighting manager, the AS7221. With the AS7221, lighting manufacturers will be able to quickly integrate high-precision color temperature tuning (or "Kelvin tuning") into their Internet of Things (IoT) smart lighting products. The AS7221 multifunctional architecture includes an I2C extension interface with iot sensor hub platform capabilities for sensing functions such as air quality detection, temperature detection, space occupancy and presence for Internet of Awareness.

     The AS7221 is equipped with an industry-first embedded tri-stimulus CIE XYZ color sensor that enables precise color sensing by mapping directly to the CIE 1931 color space. This intelligent lighting manager is a fully integrated lighting control system that is compatible with standard 0-10V inputs, achieves iot connectivity and network control through a standard client (such as smart Bluetooth, ZigBee protocol or WiFi) and a complete intelligent lighting command set, and achieves LED spectrum tuning control through a direct PWM channel output.      The AS7221 is the first extension of AMS 'recently launched line of intelligent Lighting managers, Cognitive Lighting ™. The AS7221 is packaged in a 5x5 mm LGA package for flexible integration into lighting fixtures and large light source alternatives. The device provides precise color point tuning, enabling smooth color temperature conversion between warm and cold white LED strings inside the lighting device. In addition to color and associated color temperature tuning, the AS7221 supports automatic configuration of the AMS TSL4531 ambient light sensor for automatic lighting control.
