Ams announced the selection of the ams AS-MLV-P2MEMS Volatile Organic Compounds gas sensor for its new Eve Smart Home monitoring product Elgato. Measuring 9.1mm x 9.1mm x 4.5mm, AS-MLV-P2 is a low-power gas sensor that accurately measures the concentration of volatile organic compounds in the surrounding air. The device can accurately take different adjustment measures according to the level of common air pollutants in the indoor environment.

Measuring 9.1mm x 9.1mm x 4.5mm, AS-MLV-P2 is a low-power gas sensor that accurately measures the concentration of volatile organic compounds in the surrounding air. The device can accurately take different adjustment measures according to the level of common air pollutants in the indoor environment.

     Elgato's Eve Room detects the concentration of volatile organic compounds by using AS-MLV-P2 and translates it into indoor air quality levels. The Eve Room also provides users with temperature and humidity readings. Featuring a sleek, unobtrusive and easy to configure and use design, the product features high energy efficiency, wireless connectivity, smart radio communication using Bluetooth low power, and uses a replaceable battery. The low-power operation of the AS-MLV-P2 is highly appreciated by the Elgato Design engineering team.

     Gas sensors are typically extremely power-hungry devices that require a high current to drive their sensing elements. The AS-MLV-P2 uses ams' revolutionary micromechanical design, is highly sensitive to low concentrations of volatile organic compounds, and consumes only 34mW during normal operation, making it ideal for battery-powered applications such AS the Eve Room. Surface mount gas sensors are manufactured using a highly repeatable production process that enables extremely stable operation of the end product throughout its life cycle.

     The AS-MLV-P2 gas sensor is able to directly measure the concentration of a wide range of reducing gases in the environment, which are often associated with poor air quality, such AS alcohols, acetaldehydes, ketones, organic acids, amines, fats, aromatic hydrocarbons, etc. These high concentrations of gases can cause great harm to human and animal health. These VOC measurements enable more effective indoor air quality detection than the CO2 sensors widely used today, as CO2 concentrations are highly susceptible to human and animal exhaled gases.

     In the Eve Room, the VOC measurement results of AS-MLV-P2 can be displayed in Eve's free app, which is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Through graphic graphics and comparison charts, the app provides users with useful data to help them make their home environment healthier and more comfortable, while enabling them to benefit from the latest smart home automation technologies.
